Fashola misleading
Lagosians about federal
task force – PDP
The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples
Democratic Party has accused Governor
Babatunde Fashola of misleading Lagosians
about the duty of the federal task force.
The party in a statement by its Publicity
Secretary, Mr. Taofik Gani, said Fashola was
wrong to have told Lagosians to resist
officials of the task force.
It said the governor had suddenly intensified
his verbal attack against the party so as to
“remain politically relevant”.
The PDP said the governor was nursing an
ambition to become the next Vice President
and was only trying to impress the leadership
of his party, the All Progressives Congress, by
launching a verbal assault on the PDP.
The PDP said this while reacting to
allegations by the state’s chapter of the APC
and the governor that the federal task force
were foot soldiers of the PDP ahead of the
2015 elections.
He said, “The Lagos state PDP has come out
to swiftly deny the existence of the federal
task force for the purpose of election. We
maintain that the governor’s information on
the innocent Nigerians is not only empty but
laughable and has thus reduced the
governor’s office to a “comic relief.”
“Fashola is currently agitated and restless in
office because of his over ambition to be the
Vice President of Nigeria, a wish now strongly
threatened by an opposition group within the
APC.
“The attempt to be relevant and be in the
media for the stated inordinate ambition has
influenced the governor’s recent
contributions to national issues in a negative
way. We therefore counsel the governor to
pursue his political ambition without
blackmailing the PDP or the Federal
Government but to maintain the level of
decorum worthy of the office.”
The Lagos PDP described its APC counterpart
as the worst chapter of the APC stating that
the chapter had turned out to be
“disillusioned, unpopular and only prepared
to heat up the polity.”
The party said the APC was only jittery
because its time was almost up as Lagosians
would vote out the APC next year.
“The domineering era of Lagos APC has come
and gone in the state. We advise the chapter
to get its information verified and cogent in
order to desist from being a party of
mockery,” the PDP said
